As part of our 5-week placement we offer volunteers the opportunity to build, install and then give a wind turbine to a community in Peru who is in need of electricity.

The labour and money provided by the participating volunteers allows us to give the wind turbine away for free.

The wonderful thing about Volunteer WindAid is that it benefits everyone involved. Volunteers can help communities in Peru, learn about wind turbines and experience living in North Peru, whilst the recipient communities get a free wind turbine to help provide much needed electricity.

A 2kW wind turbine built by our volunteers can not only provide electricity for light but can generate enough electricity for water pumps to bring running water to over 30 homes or too power over 10 laptops in a school.
